Tree Planting

We’re on our way to planting a million trees in St. Jean du Sud over the next 10 years.

As of April 2026 our farmers have planted around 700 trees. So far we have planted cacao, cashew, coffee, avocado, and mango trees.

This activity is appreciated by all people, especially the work done through mountains and river. When we face heavy rainfall those type of soil conservation will protect our crops from flooding. I want to congratulate intensely SEAD for this initiative and we hope the extension so that more people could benefit.”

Tree Nursery

We began working on a tree nursery for future planting in the winter of 2026. By April 2026 the nursery area was prepared to protect our 800 seedlings.

This seedlings will become soursop, cocoa (chocolate), mango, cherry, lime, lemon, and orange trees.

Our farmers began working on our community composting site in November 2025. Members of the community can add their food waste to create a rich, nututurious soil for their trees.

Dry River Bed Mitigation

Our community team successfully constructed a series of check dams within the dry riverbed beneath a local bridge. By strategically layering local stone, we have created a management system that reduces water during flash floods caused by storms or hurricanes.

This critical infrastructure prevents soil erosion and protects downstream crops from devastating flood damage, ensuring our local farmers crops stay safe.

Soil Erosion Prevention

Our farmers have begun digging canals and creating natural barriers to help prevent soil erosion and extreme flooding.
